Write down the packed item, origin, recipient and required window. A courier quote that includes doorstep collection is not the same service as meeting a traveller away from home.
Add the overlooked costs
Include packaging, travel to the meeting point and any agreed traveller contribution. If someone else collects for you, count that cost too. Use your actual quotes in the calculator; the default values are examples.
Check timing separately from price
A low contribution is not useful if collection and recipient availability do not overlap. A traveller’s planned arrival is not a guaranteed delivery deadline.
Choose on fit
Use specialist transport for items needing controlled conditions or insurance. A compatible ordinary parcel still needs disclosed contents, clear acceptance and an agreed handoff.
