Ask for current evidence
Request photos of the actual item and known defects. For a device, ask whether the seller can demonstrate its operation. A catalogue image says little about present condition.
Separate inspection from transport
Decide who will inspect the item and what would cause them to decline. A traveller collecting it is not automatically an authenticity checker or warranty provider.
Measure the packed item
A chair, instrument or appliance may need more space than its listing suggests. Confirm dimensions, weight, packaging and whether disassembly is needed.
Make both handoffs explicit
The seller needs to know who may collect; the recipient needs to know when and where to meet. Collection requires its own compatible journey and agreement.
